How do I reduce output voltage on charger (cc/cv)

Hello, I have a lithium-ion battery charger that I would like to decrease the output voltage on. It is marked "YZPOWER-600" on the case and "YZ300" on the PCB. I would like to decrease the charger output voltage from 87.6V to 86V. The lowest I can get it to go by adjusting the trim pot is 86.8V.

Current-Shunting Devices: Devices like zener diodes or voltage-dependent resistors (VDRs) can be used to shunt excess current away from sensitive components. Power Supply Adjustments: If the circuit is powered by a variable power supply, simply reducing the supply voltage or current limit setting can reduce the current.

How To Reduce Voltage Using a Resistor? Step By Step

To sum up, to reduce a voltage using a resistor, you need to construct a voltage divider circuit, also known as a potential divider; it is a passive linear circuit that generates an output voltage equal to the fraction of the input voltage. The division process results from distributing the input voltage between the components of the divide ...

Reducing the Current output of a battery charger

Hi guys, I have a battery charger that is a 12v / 24v (auto select) charger that puts out 8 Amps at 12v and 4 amps at 24v But that is too high for me. I''d like at most 2 Amps @ either 12v or 24v. I think ideally 1Amp output would be best overall. I''m thinking resistors are the way to reduce current without reducing voltage but Not sure how to do it.

Inrush Current: Causes, Limiters and Protection Circuits

During power-on, a high inrush current can occur because the power supply''s link capacitor functions to dampen ripples in the output current. This capacitor acts like a short, causing an inrush of current. The inrush lasts until the capacitor is charged. Length of the inrush current depends upon the power supply and link capacitor.

how to reduce the current without changing voltage for charging …

$begingroup$ If the battery will electrically accept more than the desired 20 mA at the present voltage across its terminals, then reducing that current necessarily means reducing the applied voltage. How can I reduce voltage on a battery. | Forum for Electronics

Surge current or max starting torque is 10x rated current, which means it would be too expensive to support > 1kW power supply, yet the battery can supply surge power. If you have variable speed, just use the 20V and cut back max available power by 30%, or use it for as long as it lasts and then upgrade to a 24V tool.

Battery

Your question does not make sense. Your device will have an equivalent resistance of 12 V/2 A = 6 ohms. The battery produces a voltage that is approximately 12 V, depending on its state of charge. Its output current will be determined by its actual voltage divided by the resistance of the load.

I am assuming that "while keeping the same current" means that current drawn from the battery is the same as the current delivered to the load - rather than: the load current is the same for a 9V source as a 6V source.

how to reduce the current without changing voltage for charging …

As the battery charges up its voltage increases, so the voltage drop and charging current reduces. At full charge the battery reaches ~10V for a difference of only 2V (with a 12V supply), so the charging current would drop to ~2V/150Ω = 13mA. This is good because it is kinder on the battery than continuing to charge it at the maximum …
